SUM - the Founder of Management Education in Russia
1885 - 1919 Alexandrov's Commercial School of the Moscow Stock Exchange Society The Nikolay's Commercial School Female Trading School of The Emperor Nikolay II The Moscow Industrial and Economic Practical Technical School
1919 - 1930 Moscow Industrial and Economic Practical Institute (MIEPI) On April 30, 1919 National Commissariat of Trade and Industry of RSFSR on the basis of the Moscow Industrial and Economic Technical School created Moscow Industrial and Economic Practical Institute. The institution was intended to provide training of economists for the industry and consumers' cooperative societies, financiers, experts in economy and in the organization of work.
1930 - 1975 Moscow Engineering and Economic institute (MEEI)
On July 23, 1930 the Central Executive Committee and Council of People's Commissars of the USSR transformed the Moscow Industrial and Economic Practical Institute into the Moscow Engineering-Economic Institute.
The primary goal of institute became training of engineers-economists of a wide profile for the major branches of a national economy: mechanical engineering, chemistry, metallurgy, power, construction, transport, municipal economy etc.
1975 - 1991 The Moscow Institute of Management (MIM)
On March 28, 1975 the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR renamed the Moscow Engineering-Economic Institute into the Moscow Institute of Management. According to requirements of economy the Institute was the first among higher education establishments of the country to start training of specialists in the organization of production management.
1991 - 1998 The State Academy of Management (SAM)
On February 5, 1991 Council of Ministers (Government) of the USSR transformed the Moscow Institute of Management into the State Academy of Management.
The Academy was the initiator of opening new directions of management education in the country in view of needs of market economy, having organized a versatile professional training for industrial, social, state and municipal management.
1998 - to present The State University of Management (SUM)
On August, 8, 1998 by the Order of the Ministry of General Education and Vocational Training of the Russian Federation based on results of the state certification and accreditation the State Academy of Management was granted the status of a university and was renamed into the State University of Management. |
